Tim and Sue Davies - AB Canada
Dear Chris and Sabine,
Many thanks for the Christmas card.
Sue and I often talk about our fantastic safari that we enjoyed with you this September. It was the trip of a lifetime. From the moment you picked us up at the Africa Sky Guesthouse in Johannesburg to the last moment when you packed us on the plane back to Calgary, we had a fantastic trip.
The camp at your dance was really nice and the food!! What can I say.
The hunting was great on all of the properties but the highlight was the free range kudu that we were able to get the drop on. It was a great bull and I look forward to getting those horns home.
We were so glad that we were able to add the photo safari after our hunt. You did a perfect job in selecting the places to visit. The PH that drove us on that part of our adventure was great (way to go Justin). He seemed to know so many interesting things and always got us to each beautiful spot with zero issues. I feel the 4 or 5 day add-on should be a regular feature and I highly recommend it.
One other thing about your staff. The lead tracker and assistant (Sammy) was so easy to work with. Polite, funny and very hard working. I swear that man has lazer beams for eyes!
I thought this would be a trip of a lifetime but I was wrong. It's just the first of many thanks to you and Sabine.
Next up a Timbavati bull!! I hope Sabine might be able to distract Sue with a trip to the Indian Ocean?
Once again, thank you so much for fantastic memories!!

First and foremost, thank you and your beautiful Bride for a fantastic time – it is always a pleasure dealing with true professionals. We arrived home around 11:30 last evening (about 7:30 your time this morning). Trip was uneventful.
Again, thank you for the super hunt.
Take care and stay safe my friend.

I have hunted Africa for 10 years, and have harvested some fine trophies. The chance to hunt the big kudu and a brown hyena attracted me to accepting this fine price, the winning of the hunt donated by Chris Troskie. Perhaps a first timer to Africa should have had the opportunity; I’m still not sure I did right by accepting the prize and not passing it on.
However, I got the chance and I took it - to hunt with Chris Troskie, a consummate PH, the finest host imaginable, a man full of energy, humor, know-how and empathy. I would hunt with him again anytime.
In the past 4 years, I have only hunted buffalo and elephant in Zimbabwe. Having graduated, so to speak, over the years from hunting PG in South Africa in areas that were fenced (although at the 25.000 ha scale) to areas in Zimbabwe where DG roamed free.
And so did the kudu in the Waterberg area, they climbed mountains if they were so inclined.
This hunt, it brought me back to the fine and exciting art of hunting antelope, not an easy feat for sure.
I am very happy that I had the chance to once more enjoy hunting for the great and grey ghost of Africa.
Sabrisa Farm is so very inviting, a charming boma where we enjoyed our welcome dinner, a nice and large pool, and a grand terrace with comfortable sofas. Outdoor dining area, all very tastefully decorated. Large and well-kept gardens, with horses on the lawn. Very easy on the eye, and we felt right at home. Lodgings roomy and very comfortable with fine beds, a large bathroom, all decorated with style. Chris wife, Sabina, is a first class cook; the food we enjoyed at every meal was outstanding.

I recently had a great hunt with my friend and excellent Professional Hunter and Outfitter,Chris Troskie of CT Safaris. We hunted cape buffalo in Timbavati, which is a private game reserve in the Greater Kruger that opens into Kruger Park in Mpumalanga, South Africa in mid March of 2014. I took a custom .458 Lott on a left handed Weatherby Mark V action made by Les Wild in Cheyenne, Wyoming using a 2.5x Leupold Ultralight scope for 500 grain Barnes TSX and Banded Solids and a 1.5-5x Leupold for 295 grain CEB bullets for plains game hunted later in Limpopo...
...It was a wonderful hunting trip with my good friends, Chris and Sabina Troskie. I made new friends, hunted great country for mature, old animals and had a great adventure that I relive parts of daily in my mind! I learned a lot about how responsible hunting and stewardship can help dedicated people preserve habitat and game in a wild, unspoiled part of Africa. I wait with great anticipation for the next time I am able to travel to South Africa!

Accommodations and staff
I was treated to my own two room plus bathroom cabin at Sabrisa Ranch. It was nicely decorated and very clean. All the amenities were present including A/C, mini-fridge, electric kettle and microwave and television. Laundry services were provided daily.
The ranch itself was beautiful. The grounds were kept up daily and had an abundance of wildlife to watch including a 50 inch kudu bull that was camped out behind my cabin one day and a nice bushbuck ram that would only come out when we were off hunting.
I loved the boma, it was a real treat to sit around the fire after a long day’s hunting.
There was a pool there even though I did not partake myself.
The staff was polite and hard working. Overall the accommodations and staff were fantastic.
Knowledge and experience
I wasn’t counting but I think I asked well over a thousand questions and there were maybe three that Chris couldn’t answer. He seemed to know everyone in the area and had a good working relationship with all of them from what I could tell. He certainly had no problem finding us places to hunt.
I really don’t know what else to say other than I could find absolutely no faults in his knowledge of not only hunting and its industry but everything South Africa related.
The areas we hunted were wonderful and diverse. From my dream mountain Kudu hunt, the sand veldt, forests, marshy pans and what I can only describe as dark jungle along the Limpopo river there was always new areas to explore. It was wonderful not to be locked into one area day after day and Chris was very quick to adapt our hunts to my levels of fitness and shooting ability.
I saw a marvelous variety of both flora and fauna, I wish I had taken more pictures of the scenery but I was too wrapped up in hunting. I’m sure if my fiancé had been there the pictures would still be downloading.
No complaints here, of the 10 animals that were harvested 8 are definitely SCI Gold, Silver or Bronze and at least two of those should be Rowland Ward. The warthog and common blesbok are un-measured at this time so I’m not sure where they will fall.
With the exception of the bushbuck which I made the decision to call off we managed to harvest every animal on my list including 2 doubles. I won’t say it was easy to achieve that, we worked very hard and according to the gps on my S4 I left over 40 km of boot leather in some of South Africa. The terrain was tough and the bush was thick. Chris and Samson put their absolute heart and soul into every hunt and it showed. I did my very best to do the same.
Interpersonal Skills & Customer Service
The highest praise I can possibly give is that not once during my hunt did I feel like I was just a client. I can honestly say it felt like I was visiting old friends for a hunting trip. Chris, Sabina and all their staff did an amazing job of making me feel at home while I was there. I can’t express how much I appreciated that especially since I was there by myself.
As for customer service, I did not want for anything from the minute I was picked up at Africa Sky to the time they left me at airport security they made sure I was taken care of.
Are you kidding me? The food was amazing, Sabina is a culinary genius. I took great pleasure in bugging Chris that people come for the food and stay for the hunting.
I even threw a curveball at Sabina that I had been diagnosed with IBD just before leaving on the trip. She adapted to my new dietary requirements like a champ and can say that not once did I have any issues while I was there, I probably could have left my medication at home.
I don’t really know what else to say other than I had an amazing time. Chris made my childhood dream of hunting a trophy kudu in the mountains a reality. There are no words that can describe how much that hunt meant to me.
I learned a ton of new things and I know for a fact I came back a better hunter than I was when I left.
It certainly won’t be a question of will I be returning to hunt with Chris but it will be a question of where will we be hunting…..but I think I have that figured out already.
Thank you Chris and Sabina and thanks everyone for reading.

I would like to Thank Chris and Sabina for making my dream a reality. The hunting was all I could ask for the Food was outstanding, the Staff First was Class and my hosts beyond words...
I started emailing Chris about a year and a half ago basically trying to get as much out of an Africa trip as I could fit in in 7 days. I was going to celebrate a Milestone Birthday and wanted something I could remember. I wanted to Hunt but also wanted to tour a little. We bounced some ideas back and forth and decided on a cull hunt with the exception of a chance to take a nice Kudu if the opportunity arose... Read full report here

Just returned from Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa. I went with 3 friends and we had a helluva time...
We saw literally thousands of animals and had an absolute blast. The food was amazing, the scenery was stunning and the weather for the most part was warm and sunny. What more could a guy ask for? I managed to drop 8 animals with 10 shots...
...I will be back. There is something about the allure of that continent that just gets in your soul. It can't be explained unless you have been there. Thanks again Chris if you are reading this. We had one of the most memorable times of our lives. Someone asked me last night what the best thing about the trip was and I just couldn't answer. It was all so great that I can't pick one thing. Hell I couldn't narrow it down to a top 3. Read full report here.

My primary goal was to take some animals with my bow - especially a big, mature Kudu bull - but I realized my self-imposed shooting limit of 20 yards was a tall order that put a lot of pressure on Chris as a PH! Nevertheless, Chris accepted the daunting task cheerfully and determinedly, went above and beyond the call of duty, and did his best and then some. By the third morning of hunting, after having numerous encounters with game, I successfully arrowed a dream of a lifetime animal for me - a truly magnificent 59 inch Kudu bull! The hunt went absolutely perfectly and to my dying day I shall not ever forget seeing that beautiful, picture perfect flight of my arrow straight to the heart of that gorgeous bull! Chris had more faith in me than I had in myself and that plus his coaching made all the difference in the world, as I successfully shot the bull at 25 yards. There was much rejoicing in the blind and I am still on top of the world from having such a dream come true! What a brilliant start to my hopefully lifetime of African hunting adventures, as that was my first African animal ever!
I very much enjoyed hunting with Chris. He has some beautiful areas to hunt in with very little hunting pressure, he can offer a wide variety of hunting experiences according to what methods and weapons you prefer to use, and he is a very genuine, honest, humorous, intelligent guy who is a very competent and knowledgeable PH. He works his hardest to see that his hunters succeed and go home satisfied with their hunts. We hunted hard, in a beautiful variety of habitats, both in the blinds and on foot, attempting many stalks under very difficult conditions. Always fun and challenging to try, and I learned a lot about the great art of stalking from Chris. There's still a Red Hartebeest out there waiting to cross paths with one of my arrows! I hadn't even remotely thought about trying to take one of these awkward-looking creatures, but trying to get to within bow range of these extra keen and cagey animals fueled my desires for a future hunt. Another mark of a great PH, in my opinion, as Chris was able to open my eyes to the challenge of a species I had not previously considered. Game was plentiful everywhere we hunted, and I thoroughly enjoyed when Chris would share his vast knowledge of the flora and fauna with me, as I am a wildlife biologist by trade.
I'm just a redneck country girl who goes hunting for the hunting, no frills necessary, but Chris and Sabina's ranch is a very lovely place, indeed! Very elegantly appointed with decidedly African themes, very comfortable and accomodating, and Sabina is an excellent cook as well. Many a night I went to bed with my seams about to burst from overindulging - especially the night we feasted on my Kudu! Evening drinks also were always an enjoyable time of story-telling and laughter.
I left with a heavy heart, after staying one day longer than I had initially planned to. A week passes all too quickly when you are having such a grand time! I surely did not want this hunt to end! But in a way, it didn't. It just is in the "pause" mode for awhile, as I am already planning my second hunt with Chris for as soon as possible in 2014. I highly recommend you contact him as well to join in on the fun and success!

I had an amazing time on my first South Africa hunt with Chris, Sabina, and the rest of their staff at CT Safaris.
Chris put forth 110% effort to put me on the animals I wanted to hunt, and to make my trip a successful and enjoyable one. I was told by a friend of mine who has hunted with Chris on four separate occasions that I "wouldn't find a harder working PH in Africa", and after hunting with Chris for seven days, I'd definitely agree!
Both Chris and Sabina really went the "extra mile" to make me feel comfortable and welcome in their home, and Sabina's cooking was simply amazing!
I went to Africa with the intent of shooting a trophy Kudu, Gemsbok, Impala, and a Warthog, and not only did I accomplish that goal, but I ended up with two new friends in Chris and Sabina.

Took 39" Cape buffalo second day,54" Kudu fourth day and filled out with Impala, warthog and zebra in seven day hunt.

Thank you both so much for sharing your special part of the world with us. I have been dreaming of Africa since I was a dirt poor teenage boy, hiding from the misery in my life by immersing myself in hunting books at the library. You helped a dream come true for me buddy. That's a debt I can never repay...

We can't thank you, Sabina and all your staff enough for the wonderful time we had. Look forward to getting the info from the taxidermist, and putting our feelings to words on your website. You truly provided a wonderful time for us, and we are forever thankful for our experience. We look forward to booking another hunt with you, and consider You and Sabina friends for life..

Torben and I had a most exquisite and enjoyable time together with Chris Troskie, PH, and Sabina, his charming wife. They treated us as royalties and offered us experiences for a lifetime. Right from the early start - about 6 months before our departure to South Africa - we had excellent contact to Chris, and we received very good and useful information.
Having trained our eyes for animals etc. in The Kruger National Park, we met Chris on a petrol station in White River, close to the luxurious lodge and the beautiful hunting area.
From the first minute there was a friendly atmosphere between us.
During our stay we saw a wide variety of animals and harvested some nice trophies from the list of desires - impala, zebra and kudo.
Chris and his staff have excellent game-eyes. They worked hard to organize and provide the best experience for us hunting as well as during game drives between the huntings. We enjoyed the nice rythm between hunting and non-hunting periods.
Chris and Sabina´s hospitality and humour are second to none which made our stay even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm the whole way through - also in the evenings, when we were braiing and sitting around the fire under the stars.
Sabina´s cooking is of high quality, and we give her ***** 5 stars, also for the elegant decoration of the table.
It is always difficult to repeat a success. We do, however, hope to come back hunting with you again, and I will do my best to "persuade" my fellow hunters in Denmark to hunt with you. That would be great!
Torben and I could not have made a better decision than choosing Chris Troskie Safaris.
Daryl Payne - AB Canada
My wife and I had an outstanding time with Chris and his wife Sabina. We were treated like royalty and enjoyed every minute of our trip with CT Safaris. The food, the atmosphere the settings, did I mention the food??...Everything was priceless. I will admit that my wife had reservations about going to Africa as she doesn't hunt. She was anticipating long boring days in camp waiting for me to return from hunting. Well on the 3rd day of our trip she came to me saying that we need to talk. I was nervous thinking that maybe she wasn't having fun. I asked what was wrong and she said “We're coming back here!" Wow what a relief. She had a great time and got along great with Sabina. She had her choice of things to do and was never left to be bored.
The hunting I experienced was so much different than home. We saw game all day every day and I was fortunate enough to take 8 animals in 5 days. Couple this with an epic tracking job/stalk on a pair of Gemsbok that resulted in 3 up close opportunities with his tracker. That was mind blowing for me. Seeing these guys in action is worth every nickel of the trip in itself.
All in all I was able to take a great Gemsbok bull, Gold Medal Impala ram, 2 Bushbucks one of which will be Gold Medal, 2 huge warthogs, an extremely old Kudu bull that was broomed off and had massive bases and a Chacma Baboon that the landowner sorely wanted off of her land. I think that spells out the recipe for an extremely successful hunt.
I was able to discuss with Chris what I wanted to hunt and how we were going to go about it. Every night while sitting around the fire we would formulate a plan for the next couple of days. I always felt included and a part of the hunt. I never felt like I was just a client that was tagging along to pull the trigger when something big enough came along. I hunted Limpopo and it is rich with opportunities. CT Safaris is a great choice to take advantage of those opportunities.
I feel as though I left having made another friend. I have done other guided hunts before and this is the only time I can say that. By midway through the first day we were joking like old hunting buddies and for that I am eternally grateful. I don't just call anyone a friend but I had no time making that connection with Chris. He is a hunter at heart and is genuinely determined that his clients have a great time while in his care.
CT Safaris is first class! I know I'll be back. After all, my wife said so!
